Rooted and Reaching

  • Description

    Jessica Hodder-Fagerstrom // October 2016

Jessica Hodder-Fagerstrom spent her teenage years in Kenya as the daughter of Salvation Army missionaries. She quickly fell in love with the country, and her experiences there molded her into the woman she is today. Rooted and Reaching is a five-week daily devotional book that tracks the author’s personal journey in Kenya and her “encounters with the Lord in what the ancients saw as the most basic elements of the universe: earth, wind, water, fire and spirit.” Each entry is a short vignette–a key moment in Fagerstrom’s time there–and includes a Bible verse and portions of Salvation Army songs and choruses.

I have read the first 29 pages, and the word pictures that describe Jessica’s beloved Kenya are so beautiful. I can picture her experiences so clearly, just as I could in her beautiful mother, Commissioner Jolene Hodder’s book, Walking in White. Jess, I have known you since you were a little girl and you are a very gifted and blessed indiviual. May God continue to bless you and your husband. I would so love to meet him someday.
